Appreciation for Aug and Sept month

No idea about "Monthly achievements award" but yeah, We have been highly appreciated by people at Sun Microsystems, B'lore for our work in the month of August and September. So I count this in category of monthly award only :) This counts to 4/9 awards in our basket - good figure indeed. Lots more to do for the club.

Friends,

So one more workshop completed successfully. Kudos to the whole team of Sun Club. I have shared the presentation material under JUG. Let me just put in short here what all we have covered in this workshop - OOP concepts, Class, Abstract Class, Interface, Inheritance, Method Overloading and Overriding, very basics of Thread.

Audience comprises of students varying from all disciplines and all years. CS101 was almost full.

Unfortunately due to some problems with the Camera, Vikas was not able to retrieve the pictures taken during the presentation. So no pictures this time :(

Workshop on Introduction to Java Programming

Friends, So we have successfully completed the 2-days workshop on "Introduction to Java Programming". It was really a great response from the students and I wish that we will be able to maintain this in our coming workshops also. Just for a note I wish to state what all topics we have covered during these presentations. We covered (a) Concept of Computing Stack, Compilers, Linkers (b) Data Representation (c) Data Types in Java (d) Operators (I think we covered all the operators) (e) Expressions (f) Conditionals (g) Iterations (h) Recursion. Once again I will like to acknowledge Dr. Mainak Choudhury without whom this presentation would not have been possible.

So friends, lets prepare now for the workshop on Solaris.

June Month Award to Sun Club, IITK

Hey Guys,

Kudos to all of us. We won the June Month Award.

J2ME Workshop on 29th June

Hey,

Time to roll again. The J2ME Workshop went well with around 45+ students attending the presentation. Firstly I talked about Java ME Basics along with demonstration of various mobile games developed at Sun Club. Then we learn How to write a MIDlet from scratch - we traced each and every statement of the Hello World code by Carol Hamer. Some students were not so familiar with JAVA, so I explained them basic concepts of abstract classes, interfaces, multithreading etc. I hope I have explained them well how to understand the MIDP API documentation. Finally I iterated over the code of TumbleWeed Game by carol Hamer to explain advanced concepts of Sprite and LayerManager.

Here are some pictures of the workshop - http://www.flickr.com/photos/9480649@N04/
(Thanks to Mr. Sourabh Kumar Saha for his DigiCam and Mr. Prateek Goel for taking the pics)
